The flowers have long, protruding stamens and form in showy clusters at the branch tips, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

 

The plant has finely divided, fern-like leaves, and its branches are often armed with small thorns. Caesalpinia pulcherrima thrives in warm, tropical climates and is drought-tolerant, making it a popular choice for ornamental landscaping in gardens and public spaces. It's also valued for its medicinal properties in traditional medicine across various cultures.
